Grantley Hall trains spa therapists in oncology touch therapies
Nov 01, 2022- The luxury hotel and spa destination has worked with Jennifer Young to train spa therapists in tailored oncology massage treatments.
- The spa will now be able to offer treatments to clients at all stages of their cancer journey.
- Treatments can be tailored to the individual and help ease the common side effects of cancer treatment.
Five-star luxury spa hotel, Grantley Hall in Yorkshire, now offers oncology touch therapies after working with Jennifer Young to provide spa therapists with fully accredited qualifications.
Jennifer Young's data driven approach to supporting cancer patients is well known in the spa industry. She provides skincare products that have been created in collaboration with NHS cancer patients, and therapist training in a variety of oncology touch treatments including facials, massages and reflexology. Jennifer Young treatments can be adapted for individual requirements at all stages of the cancer journey, giving therapists the knowledge and tools to understand the client's experience, the medical treatment they may be receiving and to tailor therapies for optimal comfort and efficacy.
Working with Grantley Hall, Jennifer created a bespoke top-to-toe treatment for the luxury spa destination. Formulated around her collection of Wellbeing Body Oils, the unique Therapeutic Body and Face Experience focuses on nine core objectives, including:
- Relaxation
- Sleep
- Focus
- Energy
- Confidence
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Holistic wellness
- Calm
The therapist training is an advanced qualification. It enhances their core learning, allowing them to work, hands on, with those affected by cancer. These specialist touch therapies include acupressure points associated with the side effects of cancer treatment, also addressed by the corresponding Wellbeing Body Oils.
When Grantley Hall set out to offer oncology touch therapies to their clients, therapists specifically requested to work with Jennifer Young and her team.
Rebecca Doyle, Spa & Wellness Manager, said: “Our experienced spa therapists are delighted to be working in collaboration with Jennifer Young to offer our guests tailored oncology massage treatments. Our spa therapists are proud to be fully trained in inclusive treatments, allowing those going through the cancer journey some respite and relaxation. The new treatments enhance the existing wellness philosophy behind the Three Graces Spa, which is based on balance and wellbeing.”
Jennifer Young said: "Grantley Hall is one of the most beautiful spa destinations in the UK. Their approach to excellence is unparalleled and that shines through in the attitude of their spa therapists who strive to support all clients who come to them. It was a joy to work with a team who wanted not only to offer oncology massage, but to make sure that the experience was every bit as luxurious as any other treatment on their menu. While all of our oncology touch therapies are designed for enjoyment as well as efficacy, the collaboration with Grantley Hall enabled us to take the experience even further, creating something really beautiful for anyone visiting the spa following a cancer diagnosis."
The Jennifer Young Therapeutic Face and Body Experience are now available at Grantley Hall. Jennifer Young offers accredited therapist training in oncology massage and other touch therapies to enable spas and spa therapists to treat the one in two people affected by cancer, and support at each stage of their cancer journey.
